I am really starting to excited now! People are linking to my website and I am starting to receive endorsement and offers of assistance. I was even offered a loan to cover expenses on the trip. YES!!! This IS going to work!What is the only thing that can temper my enthusiasm? The Las Vegas heat. Riding in this kind of heat is NOT pleasant. The apparent wind while riding is NOT cool; it actually heats the rider more than if they were sitting still at a stop light.
Don't get me wrong. I look forward to every opportunity there is to hop on and ride, but I must admit that riding at 75 MPH in 115 F is brutal. At least in the cold I can bundle up. I am not personally into riding naked. That would be a tad bit embarrassing and that sunburn... outch!
BUT, the season is changing. Nights are starting to have a certain coolness to them. Some days yield riding that is not so brutal. It won't be long now before the temperatures are perfect riding. The smell and feel of the cool air whistling by... Let me tell you, I am truly looking forward to that!

I stumbled onto your blog and have been enjoying reading it. Congratulations on your success, with offers etc. That's great! -Man, I don't blame you for wanting the cooler temps to come along. I used to ride with t-shirts and shorts etc. but now days I've become a little more safety conscious and wear a jacket and all that. I can't even imagine riding the Vegas area this time of year with a jacket on. I think I would stick to the night during summer months!
I can't remember exactly where your route is going to take you, but don't forget that 35 days from now, that in some parts of the country the last thing you are going to have to worry about is the heat!
As far as what you wrote about in your previous post about your worries with stuff that might happen on your trip, a lot of those worries magically evaporate once you are underway. Once you are rolling, you'll be "In the moment" and that's the most important part of the trip.

Kano: Welcome! I am glad you are enjoying my blog. I remember as a teenager riding my Yamaha frankenbike with nothing but t-shirt, jeans and tennis shoes. It is funny when some of us get older we get more safety conscious. Now I can't imagine riding without a jacket, helmet and gloves. I have tried riding with tennis shoes and, well, I am pretty worthless without my boots.
Earl: My route is roughly from Vegas to Denver, then pretty straight to Rock Island, IL. Then a twisty ride down to Kitty Hawk. The return ride will be mostly on side roads that follow I 40. As soon as I get out of the Vegas valley, I am fairly confidant the weather conditions will be better. I can't see how it could be worse.
I suffer from pre-trip jitters. I always have. While I have never ridden more than 300 miles from Vegas before, I am confidant that after I get out of Vegas, the worries will indeed evaporate. Thanks!
